Having already accomplished the pick-off and raise, the rescue technicians begin their transition work from a vertical raise to getting the litter and patient to the top of the cliff and safely transported; without the use of an artifical high directional (to minimize edge trauma and ease the burden on the rescuers who would otherwise be caught in the blood-bath of getting the "package" past the edge), a system called the V-Strap method is used; essentially a number of systems that ultimately create a "break over lever" once the litter and patient are above the edge of the cliff (while still in the vertical position).

The Raven High Angle pack is an exceptional pack to carry all the needed gear for both attendant and patient; rigging gear, BLS equipment, food, water, clothing... you name, it will probably fit.
